Africa Safari Adventure
Journey with John Bytheway, Rick Nielsen aka Ranger, Hank Smith and Bountiful Travel on an African Safari. Enjoy time in Kenya visiting an elephant orphanage, the Nairobi temple and Nairobi National Park. Visit the Masai Mara game reserve and see all of the amazing animals up close. Visit Lake Naivasha to see the hippos. Visit Lake Nakuru National Park and enjoy the wildlife. Fly to Mombasa and relax on the beach and see the 16th century city sights. John, Hank and Rick will share insights as you explore Africa with our adventurous LDS group.

Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive in Nairobi at the Jomo Knyatta International Airport where you are met and transferred to our hotel.

Day 3WEDNESDAY, JULY 7
Nairobi, Kenya
We begin to explore the sights of Nairobi.
There is much to see here. We go to the Karen Blixen Museum, home of the author of "Out of Africa." We visit the Giraffe Center and the Elephant Orphanage. Overnight in Nairobi.(B,L,D)
Day 4THURSDAY, JULY 8
Nairobi, Kenya
Today we go on our first game safari.
We head into Nairobi National Park which we have only seen from our hotel. We enjoy spotting the amazing giraffes, zebras, rhinos and so forth. We visit the Kenya Temple grounds and learn more about the church in Kenya. We enjoy dinner together. Overnight in Nairobi. (B,L,D)
Day 5FRIDAY, JULY 9
Lake Naivasha
We leave the bustling Nairobi behind.
We load our bags, hop in our safari cruisers and drive to Lake Naivasha. Here we take a short boat ride to see the hippos. We visit Crescent Island and get to walk with the wild animals. We drive to our lodgings on Lake Nukuru. (B,L,D)
Day 6SATURDAY, JULY 10
Lake Nakuru
We spend the day on safari in Lake Nakuru National Park.
The scenery is stunning and the animals abound. We have time in the afternoon to enjoy our lodge before heading out on another game drive. We overnight at Lake Nukuru. (B,L,D)
Day 7SUNDAY, JULY 11
Masai Mara Game Reserve
This morning we pack our bags and head to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
It is quite a trek, but we are there in time for lunch. After lunch we head out on afternoon game drive. Nothing quite prepares you for this breathtaking experience. We spend the evening relaxing at our accommodations in the Masai Mara. (B,L,D)
Day 8MONDAY, JULY 12
Masai Mara Game Reserve
Today is filled with more game drive adventures.
We have both a morning and an afternoon drive. You will be closer to these animals then you ever imagined. Those who are interested may pay an additional fee and get up early for a hot air balloon ride which shows you the animals from above. For many, the hot air balloon ride is the highlight of the trip.

Day 9TUESDAY, JULY 13
Mombasa, Africa
Today we leave the Mara behind and fly to Mombasa.
We admire the vibrant, narrow streets of Mombasa and the captivating architecture on our way to our beachfront hotel. We overnight in Mombasa. (B,L,D)
Day 10WEDNESDAY, JULY 14
Mombasa, Africa
We enjoy a half-day tour of Mombasa.
We visit Fort Jesus and learn about the history of the area. We visit local wood carvers and see how those amazing carvings are created. The afternoon is ours to explore our resort. Enjoy the beach and swimming pools or just relax. We overnight in Mombasa. (B,L,D)
Day 11THURSDAY, JULY 15
Nairobi/Fly Home
Today we bid farewell to our beloved Kenya.
We board a flight to Nairobi. We are taken to the international airport where we catch our late night flights home.
Day 12FRIDAY, JULY 16
Arrive Home
Arrive home.

Deposits are non-refundable. If you cancel and the tour sells out, your deposit becomes a travel credit, good for two years from this tour's start date. After final payment, all payments are non-refundable. See our Terms & Conditions for the full policy.

Guests are responsible for arranging their own airfare to the tour’s starting destination and home from its ending destination. International airfare is not included in the trip price.

John Bytheway
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, John Bytheway served a mission in the Philippines before attending the University of Utah and graduating from Brigham Young University (BYU). Since 1996, John has taught Book of Mormon and New Testament courses at BYU and the BYU Salt Lake Center. He earned a master’s degree in Religious Education in 2003. John is the co-host of the Follow Him podcast with Hank Smith and the author of more than two dozen books and CDs.
