Join Brant Gardner & Bountiful Travel on a Book of Mormon cruise adventure. This 9-night cruise on the Jewel of the Seas departs out of Galveston. It includes stops in Belize, Honduras and Mexico. This may be the best Book of Mormon cruise itinerary available. During the days on the ship, you’ll have the opportunity to attend Book of Mormon classes taught by Brant. Brant is one of the leading Book of Mormon scholars in the mesoamerican theory.

You will love the private tours we offer in each stop. We will visit some of the most amazing ruins that can be seen from a cruise itinerary, including Lamanai, Chichen Itza and Chacchoben. Brant will help bring the scriptures to life as he teaches onboard the ship and on site. Day 3 : Yucatan (Progreso), Mexico

February 22, 2025 (Saturday)

We travel to the famed Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. If time permits, we take a swim in one of the cenotes. Pricing: TBD

Day 4 : Cozumel, Mexico

February 23, 2025 (Sunday)

Explore Cozumel on your own. You could take a taxi and go to church with the local Spanish speaking ward. You might spend the day on the beach relaxing.

Day 5 : Costa Maya, Mexico

February 24, 2025 (Monday)

On this tour we enjoy the jungle setting of Chacchoben and its majestic ruins. This site existed during the late Book of Mormon times. Learn how the structures and rituals of the Maya relate to the Book of Mormon and LDS beliefs. After visiting the ruins, we travel to a little Maya village where we have the opportunity to see how the Maya lived. We enjoy an amazing, traditional Maya lunch and may even join in making the corn tortillas. The Maya experience at the village has become a favorite for many guests. Approx: Price per person: TBD.

Day 6 : Belize City, Belize

February 25, 2025 (Tuesday)

Take an exciting speedboat ride down the New River to get to the amazing Maya ruins of Lamanai. These ruins date back to the Book of Mormon time period. Climb the huge temples, search for howler monkeys or just enjoy the beautiful jungle setting. An authentic Belizean lunch will be served upon arrival to the ruins. This is a can’t-miss excursion when visiting the Western Caribbean. This tour is consistently rated very highly by our guests. Approx: Price per person: TBD.

Day 7 : Roatan, Honduras

February 26, 2025 (Wednesday)

We begin with a short tour of the island. As we head over to the East side of the island, you learn of the island’s history and its inhabitants. You see the shipwrecks at Dixon Cove, local fishing boats at French Harbor and visit a monkey farm, where you can play with the monkeys and usually hold a sloth. We then visit West End Village where we have an authentic local lunch waiting for us at the beach. Here we spend a couple hours before heading back to the ship. You can snorkel (snorkel equipment is included and there is a nice reef just off the beach), swim or just relax. Roatan Zipline: Add a thrilling zipline adventure to your island tour. Zipline through the jungles from 13 different platforms. The zipline is located just a few minutes away from the beach. For those doing the zipline, you go to the zipline right before lunch. We then bring you back to the beach. The price is an additional $45 per person. You pay for this when you get to the zipline. Price per person TBD. Lunch is included.

Jewel of the Seas is a 90,090-ton ship and the fourth and final Radiance-class ship for Royal Caribbean. There are many dining options and a modest selection of entertainment. The ship houses approximately 2,144 passengers. 13 decks, 8 of which hold cabins. The ship underwent a refurbishment in 2021 and is even better than before.

Headliners

Brant A. Gardner did his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University. He received a Master’s in Anthropology from the State University of New York at Albany, specializing in Mesoamerican ethnohistory. He works part time as a Research Associate for Scripture Central. He applied his understanding of Mesoamerican ethnohistory to provide a historical context for the Book of Mormon that informed his six-volume Second Witness: Analytical and Contextual Commentary on the Book of Mormon, as well as Traditions of the Fathers: The Book of Mormon as History. He has also written other books examining topics important to Book of Mormon. He is the author of The Gift and Power: Translating the Book of Mormon, and most recently Engraven Upon Plates, Printed Upon Paper: Textual and Narrative Structures of the Book of Mormon, and The Plates of Mormon: A Book of Mormon Study Edition Based on Textual and Narrative Structures in the English Translation, each published by Kofford Books. Gardner has also contributed a Book of Mormon Minute to the ScripturePlus app, a condensed commentary on two or three verses at a time from the Book of Mormon. Gardner has presented at multiple FAIR conferences and two Sperry Symposia (now Come, Follow Me Symposium in Honor of Sidney B. Sperry).
