Terryl Givens did graduate work in intellectual history at Cornell and in comparative literature at UNC Chapel Hill, where he received his Ph.D. He is Professor Emeritus of Literature and Religion at the University of Richmond, and the Neal A. Maxwell Senior Research Fellow at Brigham Young University. His numerous books include a history of Latter-day Saint theology, (Wrestling the Angel and Feeding the Flock with Oxford University Press) and several studies of LDS scripture, culture, biography and history. The New York Times has called his scholarship “provocative reading,” and he has been a commentator on LDS topics on PBS, CNN, and NPR. With his wife Fiona, he has published several books that celebrate the Restored Gospel; they travel frequently to speak on the topic of finding faith in trying times.
