Join us for our 2-night pre-cruise tour in Rome! Transfers Included

Day 1 – October 19, 2024: Depart the U.S. on your flight to Rome (FCO).

Day 2 – October 20, 2024: Arrive in Rome and take the hotel shuttle to the hotel. You can explore the city on your own or just relax and prepare for tomorrow’s tour.

Day 3 – October 21, 2024: Our “Highlights of Rome” takes us to the Roman Colosseum. The Roman Colosseum is located in the heart of Rome. It is the largest ancient amphitheater ever built and is still the largest standing. The Catacombs of Rome are underground burial places sprinkled all around the city. Today we enter only one of the many. We see many other important sites as we stroll along including the famous Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. An authentic Italian dinner is included.

Day 4 – October 22, 2024: Today we load our luggage on the bus and head to the Vatican. Our tour takes us to the Vatican City Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.   Following our visit we board our bus for transport to our cruise ship.

Day 1 : Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

October 22, 2024 (Tuesday)

Join us for a 2-night pre-cruise tour or meet up with us onboard the ship. If you want to attend the Rome temple, you can fly in early and make your own arrangements for attending a session on Saturday.

Day 2 : Naples, Italy

October 23, 2024 (Wednesday)

We head to the ancient city of Pompeii. We spend some time strolling through the ancient ruins as our guide shares details about the lives' of the residents before the great eruption. We have an opportunity to view the somber and incredible plaster casts of some of the victims of the Mt. Vesuvius eruption. Mt. Vesuvius can be seen from Pompeii. Our tour continues with a scenic drive through the beautiful countryside along a coastal road. After about an hour we arrive at the wonderful town of Sorrento. Here you enjoy some free time to shop, eat or just admire the picturesque views of Sorrento. $140 per person if paying by check or ACH.

We start our exciting day with a one-hour scenic bus ride to visit ancient Corinth where Paul arrived in 51 AD. We take a look at the famous Corinth Canal and enjoy lunch featuring authentic Greek cuisine. We then head back to Athens where we visit the Acropolis, including the Parthenon, Erechteion, Temple of Athena Nike and more. We will also be able to see Mars Hill where Paul once preached. We drive by other interesting sites as we make our way back to our ship. $150 per person if paying by check or ACH. Lunch included.

Day 5 : Santorini, Greece

October 26, 2024 (Saturday)

We are picked up from the old port of Fira where we take a water taxi to Athinios port and our bus. We enjoy a guided walk through the quiet, picturesque village of Magalochori. Following our visit, we drive to Profitis Ilias, the highest point on the island, for a scenic photo stop. Our next stop be the Monolithos Black Beach (no swimming) where we have a short time to enjoy the water and beach. We then journey to Oia, the northern most village where we see the classic blue domed buildings, the ruins of a Venetian castle and admire the breathtaking view over the caldera. We have time on our own to explore or eat. We take in any sights we might have missed as we enjoy the journey back to the port. $95 per person if paying by check or ACH.

Day 6 : Rhodes, Greece

October 27, 2024 (Sunday)

We begin our day in Rhodes with a drive past the Mandraki Old Harbor, where according to tradition, the Colossus of Rhodes once stood. We drive by the Northern point of the island where the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea meet. We enjoy a panoramic drive and photo stop at the Anceient Acropolis of Rhodes. We drive to Lindos where we make a photo stop at St. Paul's bay, made famous by the Guns of Navarone movie. We spend time in the village of Lindos and have time on our own to hike to the Acropolis of Lindos, for an additional fee, to shop and to grab lunch. Following our visit to Lindos we drive along the coastal road of Faliraki. We arrive in Rhodes and go to the D'Amboise Gate which is the highest point of the medieval city. We follow our guide on a tour of some of the most important monuments of the old town, including: The Grand Master's Palace, the Street of the Knights, and the Ruins of Saint John Cathedral. We then return to our ship. Price: $100 per person if paying by check or ACH.

October 30, 2024 (Wednesday)

Our tour takes us to one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world, Ephesus. We tour the terrace houses that are part of the Ephesus site. We see the Odeon, the marble street where Paul held daily discussions, the Library of Celcus, the Temple of Hadrian and the great theater. We spend several hours strolling through this site. Following this we board the bus for a quick photo stop at the Artemision or Temple of Artemis. We return to the port at Kusadasi and you have the option of remaining on land for shopping or boarding the ship and relaxing. $70 per person if paying by check or ACH.

Day 10 : Mykonos, Greece

October 31, 2024 (Thursday)

We board a boat that takes us to the ruins of the archaelogical site of Delos. Delos is located on Delos Island which is an uninhabited Greek Isle. We have a guided walking tour of the ruins with some time to explore on our own. Delos is the mythical birthplace of Apollo. It was a major religious center as well. We see ancient Doric temples, mosaics, and an amphitheater. If the museum has completed its renovations, we can see many of the artifacts excavated from the site. We return back to the port of Mykonos. For those who wish there is time to explore Mykonos on your own or you can get back on the ship and relax. In Mykonos, you can grab a bite to eat, shop and enjoy the windmills from up close. $90 per person if paying by check or ACH.

Day 11 : Chania (Souda), Crete, Greece

November 1, 2024 (Friday)

Our adventure on Crete takes us to the White Mountains. We embark on a safari tour aboard premium off-road vehicles. Be aware that the roads are very windy and those prone to motion sickness may not enjoy the experience. The driver tells us all about the area as we journey to the White Mountains. We visit Therissos a traditional Cretan village and learn about the lifestyle of the Cretan shepherd. Our educational experience includes stepping inside an original shepherd's hut. We enjoy a traditional Greek lunch together in the village. $114 per person if paying by check or ACH. Lunch included.

Brent L. Top is Professor Emeritus of Church History & Doctrine at Brigham Young University and former Dean of Religious Education. Immediately prior to his retirement from BYU he was the Richard L. Evans Distinguished Professor of Religious Understanding at Brigham Young University. In his thirty-five years on the Religion faculty at BYU, Brent has authored or co-authored more than 20 books and numerous articles on doctrinal, scriptural, historical, and sociological. subjects. Dr. Top and his family lived in Israel when he taught Old and New Testament at the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near-Eastern Studies. He has traveled extensively in the Holy Land and has led scores of tours. Most recently, Brent served as mission president/site leader at the Mormon Battalion Historic Site in San Diego (2022-2024) and was president of the Illinois Peoria Mission (2004-2007). In both of these capacities he and his wife, Wendy were continually immersed in the people, places, and events of Latter-day Saint History. He has led several tours to those important sites where foundational events of the Restoration transpired. He is a popular speaker at BYU Campus Education Week and has often presented at BYU Women’s Conference and many other settings. He and Wendy love to travel with Bountiful Travel and from those tours have made many new life-long friends. Brent and Wendy currently live in the St. George, Utah area surrounded by red rocks and plenty of adventures.

Terryl Givens did graduate work in intellectual history at Cornell and in comparative literature at UNC Chapel Hill, where he received his Ph.D. He is Professor Emeritus of Literature and Religion at the University of Richmond, and the Neal A. Maxwell Senior Research Fellow at Brigham Young University. His numerous books include a history of Latter-day Saint theology, (Wrestling the Angel and Feeding the Flock with Oxford University Press) and several studies of LDS scripture, culture, biography and history. The New York Times has called his scholarship “provocative reading,” and he has been a commentator on LDS topics on PBS, CNN, and NPR. With his wife Fiona, he has published several books that celebrate the Restored Gospel; they travel frequently to speak on the topic of finding faith in trying times.

Fiona Givens was born in Nairobi, Kenya, educated in British convent schools, and converted to the LDS church in Frankfurt, Germany. She earned degrees in French, German, and in European History while co-raising six children. Fiona is a frequent speaker on podcasts and at conferences addressing both LDS and interfaith audiences. She works now as an independent scholar in religious studies, having published articles and chapters in several journals and scholarly collections from LDS Living to University of Illinois Press. With her husband, she is the co-author of The God Who Weeps, The Christ Who Heals, The Crucible of Doubt, and most recently, All Things New: Rethinking Sin, Salvation, and Everything in Between. She and Terryl are teachers in their Midway, Utah ward.
