Nineteenth-century British, religious, and LDS historian, Kristine Frederickson, Director of the Interpreter Foundation and Matthew and Julie Jones, co-Founders of The FoRB Foundation, will lead a two-part tour that gives travelers a bespoke and unique visit to the UK. Even if you are an experienced Anglophile, this visit will give you a unique opportunity to focus on London and the FoRB work occurring in the UK Parliament, along with an overview of the religious, political and social conditions in nineteenth century England that led up to and produced “seekers” after gospel truth found in the restored gospel of The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and advocates for religious freedom. In addition, your participation in this tour will directly support the work of The Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) Foundation.
We start outside the capital by visiting important British History sights in Bath, founded by the Romans in the first century A.D. and then developed into one of the most fashionable places to live in the 18th century. Famed authors Jane Austen and Mary Shelly called Bath home. We then travel on to Church history sites, among them Wales, as well as the Gadfield Elm Chapel and the Benbow Farm in Gloucester, all locales where missionaries converted many to the restored gospel. We visit 19th-century villages, in the Cotswold’s before stopping in Oxford for tours and lectures. Along the way there will be fascinating insights, sumptuous gardens, historic churches, and picture-perfect villages.
Our five days in London will be an unforgettable insider’s experience as you privately tour the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abby and visit the hidden gem museums and performance venues of the Capital. In Parliament, guest lecturers will review the UK’s current role as a leading advocate for International Religious Freedom and Human Rights. You will receive a unique understanding of the International Religious Liberty movement from the perspective of staff, volunteer MPs and other officials currently working in Parliament with the UK APPG for International Freedom of Religion or Belief, Home – The APPG for International Freedom of Religion or Belief. The FoRB Foundation and the APPG IFORB exist to raise awareness, recover rights, and rebuild lives of those impacted by FoRB violations around the world.
