Historic Sydney boasts several landmarks from the late 1700s, such as the colonial Cossit House and the Jost House, which features an unusual beehive bake-oven.

Day 5 : Halifax, NS

Founded by the British in 1749, Halifax still has a British military air about it. Every day at noon, a ceremonial gun is fired at the Halifax Citadel, a star-shaped fortress where the guides wear military uniforms.

Day 6 : Portland, ME

Take in the best views of this vibrant city from the Portland Observatory, America’s only remaining historic maritime signal tower. Pay a visit to the Portland Museum of Art, home to works by Picasso, Monet and Renoir.

This is a seaside paradise, especially for lovers of the outdoors. Hike through Acadia National Park, behold the sweeping vistas from Cadillac Mountain, and watch for migrating humpback whales.

Robert Millet
ROBERT L. MILLET is Professor Emeritus of Ancient Scripture at Brigham Young University. He joined the BYU Religion faculty in 1983 and retired from teaching at BYU in January 2014. He is the former Dean of Religious Education at BYU and has also served as the Richard L. Evans Professor of Religious Understanding. Since 1997 he has been involved in interfaith work in an effort to build understanding and relationships with other faiths. He has been involved in academic dialogues with Evangelical Christians, the Church of the Nazarene, and the Community of Christ (formerly Reorganized Church). He is a Distinguished Scholar with the John A. Widtsoe Foundation and is involved in a dialogue with Christian scholars held at the University of Southern California. He is the author or editor of more than 70 books and 200 articles, dealing mostly with the doctrine and history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its relationship to other faiths. Some of his most recent books include The Holy Spirit: His Identity, Mission, and Ministry; Beyond the Grave: Christian Interfaith Perspectives; The Atoning One; Whatever Happened to Faith?; and, Precept Upon Precept: Joseph Smith and the Restoration of Doctrine. Brother Millet and his wife Shauna are the parents of six children and reside in Orem, Utah.
