Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Wednesday, September 20

Home City/Rochester, NY/Palmyra

We depart this morning for Palmyra, NY and get acquainted over dinner as we look forward to the trip ahead. Accommodations: The Palmyra Inn. Meals : Dinner

Day 2: Thursday, September 21

Palmyra/Fayette

This morning we’ll visit the Sacred Grove and reflect on the special events that took place here. Next we’ll see the restored Joseph Smith Sr. home and farm, including the cabin where Moroni first appeared to Joseph Smith. Next we’ll stop at the E. B. Grandin Building where the Book of Mormon was printed, then see the grave site Alvin Smith, eldest brother of Joseph Smith. After lunch we’ll visit the Hill Cumorah and Visitor’s Center and then travel to Fayette, NY to the Peter Whitmer Farm where the church was organized on April 6, 1830. Day 3: Friday, September 22

Susquehanna, PA/Palmyra

Today we will visit the new Priesthood Restoration site in Susquehanna County, PA. We will see the new visitor’s center and meetinghouse, the reconstructed homes of Joseph and Emma Smith and Isaac and Elizabeth Hale, the woods where John the Baptist restored the priesthood, the baptismal site at the Susquehanna River, and the new statuary. Day 4: Saturday, September 23

Palmyra/Niagara Falls/Kirtland

Today we continue our journey to Niagara Falls, the oldest state park in the USA. We’ll board the Maid of the Mist boat which passes directly in front of the falls and enters Horseshoe Basin. This is a fun activity you don’t want to miss! After free time for lunch and shopping we travel to Kirtland, OH. Accommodations: Holiday Inn. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5: Sunday, September 24

Kirtland

Following Sacrament meeting we’ll see the Temple Quarry and have a picnic lunch. We spend the rest of the afternoon visiting the Morley Farm, the Kirtland Temple, and the Historic Kirtland village. These sites include; the LDS Visitor’s Center, the Whitney Home and Store, the Johnson Inn, the Ashery, and Sawmill. Accommodations: Holiday Inn. Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Monday, September 25

Kirtland/Kansas City/Independence

This morning we will depart for Hiram, OH to visit the John Johnson Farm where Joseph Smith received the vision of the three degrees of glory. Next we will fly to Kansas City. Upon arrival, we will drive to Independence to see the LDS Visitors Center near the temple site in Jackson County. Following dinner we’ll drive to Liberty and visit the Liberty Jail where the Prophet Joseph spent several months while the Saints suffered severe persecution in Missouri. Accommodations: Hampton Inn. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7: Tuesday, September 26

Far West/Adam-Ondi-Ahman/Nauvoo

We begin our day by traveling to Far West to see the site of the temple and discuss the historic events that occurred here before the Saints were forced to leave Missouri. Our next stop is Adam-Ondi-Ahman to see where Adam and Eve lived after the Garden of Eden then we’ll continuing on our scenic drive to Nauvoo. Overnight at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites. Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8: Wednesday, September 27

Nauvoo

This morning we’ll browse through the many restored homes and buildings in “Old Nauvoo”, including the homes of Brigham Young, John Taylor, Heber C. Kimball, Lucy Mack Smith, and the Jonathan Browning Gun Shop. This afternoon we will visit Joseph Smith’s homestead; the grave sites of Joseph, Emma, and Hyrum; the Mansion House; and the Red Brick Store. After dinner we will enjoy the musical production “Rendezvous” at the Cultural Hall. Accommodations: The Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9: Thursday, September 28

Nauvoo/Carthage

Our day begins with an optional temple session at the Nauvoo Temple. Then we’ll visit the Pioneer Cemetery. This afternoon we’ll travel the old road to Carthage to view a production of the “Life of the Prophet Joseph Smith” at the Visitor’s Center. Next, we’ll tour the jail itself where the Prophet Joseph and his brother Hyrum were martyred. After an early dinner we’ll walk the “Trail of Hope” and read excerpts from personal diaries of the Saints. Accommodations: The Nauvoo Family Inn and Suites. Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10: Friday, September 29

Nauvoo/Hannibal/St. Louis Airport/Home

As we say our farewell to Nauvoo, we continue on to Mark Twain’s Hannibal on the Mississippi River for a luncheon cruise on a riverboat. Following lunch, we’ll depart for St. Louis, MO for our afternoon flight home. Meals : Breakfast, Lunch
