Roatan Island Tour: This will be a relaxing day to tour the beautiful island of Roatan. After visiting the sites on Roatan (including a fun stop by the Iguana farm), we will go to the beach where we will have a delicious lunch. Snorkel gear is included in the cost of the tour for those who would like to snorkel on the reef. It is a great place to snorkel. Following some free time on the beach, we will return to the ship. For those who would like, you can also add on the thrill of a zipline at this port stop. 12 stations and beautiful views make this a fun zipline. $70 – Zip line is an additional cost.
Lamanai Ruins: Take an exciting speedboat ride down the New River to get to the amazing Maya ruins of Lamanai. These ruins date back to the Book of Mormon time period. Climb the huge temples, search for howler monkeys or just enjoy the beautiful jungle setting. If you are taking a cruise to the Western Caribbean, this is a can’t-miss excursion. This tour is consistently rated a very highly by our guests. $120
Tulum Ruins: From Cozumel see one of the most famous and beautiful of the Maya sites. Tulum sits atop a cliff overlooking the ocean–the setting is surreal. This excursion may allow for some free time to shop or swim in the ocean at the bottom of the ruins for those who would like. $120.
All Shore Excursions are optional and may be purchased separate from the cruise rate. Our tours are private for our LDS group and separate from the ships excursions.
Taylor is an engaging teacher and tour leader who shows personalized interest in each individual, adult and youth alike. Taylor is a BYU Teaching and Learning Consultant, member of the Book of Mormon Central executive committee, a columnist for the Deseret News, founder of the Creativity, Innovation, and Design group, a travel leader to Mesoamerica and the Holy Land, and the Chief Innovation Officer at Vereo Training.
At BYU Taylor has taught Book of Mormon, Old Testament, History of Creativity, Innovation Boot Camp, Basic Entrepreneurship Skills, and an interdisciplinary design course called “Illuminating the Scriptures: Designing Innovative Study Tools.” His education includes: BA in Ancient Near Eastern Studies (BYU), MA in Biblical Studies (Yale), MS in Instructional Systems Technology (Indiana University), PhD in Instructional Systems Technology (Indiana University), PhD in Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity (Indiana University). Taylor has published and presented widely on scripture, technology, teaching, and learning (more at taylorhalverson.com). Taylor is married to Lisa Maren Rampton Halverson (who completed PhD coursework at Stanford in Middle East Studies and often co-leads tours with Taylor). Their children are David & Rachel.
Dave Hadlock: Dave has been traveling with groups for over 14 years. He began by taking groups into Central America and has now added the Holy Lands. Dave has completed the course work at BYU for a master’s degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies. He has also studied Mesoamerican history and the Maya culture. His passion is the study and teaching of ancient scripture by trying to put it in its correct cultural and linguistic context. His style of teaching is straight from the scriptures,using them as his primary source. His gift is taking difficult doctrinal & scriptural passages and making them understandable to all.
He has conducted over 70 cruises and tours through Mexico and the proposed Book of Mormon lands during the last 14 years and has taught many years of gospel doctrine and institute classes. Dave is your director if you want to understand the Book of Mormon in its ancient New World context, while still having a blast. There are few with his background and knowledge of the ancient Maya and the Book of Mormon. He loves being with people. He’s personable and fun. All Rates are per person based on double occupancy. 3rd and 4rth persons in same cabin travel at reduced rates. Organize 8 double occupancy cabins and cruise for free.

Booking Requirements: A $250 deposit, per person, is required to confirm your reservations. Final payment is due February 20, 2017.
Passports: Passports are highly recommended, but not required, for this sailing and can take up to 8 weeks to arrive!
