Join us on this unforgettable tour to Palmyra, Kirtland, Independence, and Nauvoo. The highlights of the tour are the Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith farm, historic Kirtland village, the Kirtland temple, Independence, Liberty Jail, Far West, historic Nauvoo, and the Nauvoo temple to name a few.


Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Monday, July 16th

We depart this morning for Syracuse, New York. Upon arrival, there will be a free hotel shuttle from the airport. In the evening, we will have a meet & greet and dinner. Meals : Dinner

 

Day 2: Tuesday, July 17th

Fayette/Susquehanna

Today we move on to Fayette, NY and visit the Peter Whitmer Farm.  This is where the Church was officially organized.  It was also in Fayette that the Three Witnesses saw the angel and the plates.  Some of the Book of Mormon was also translated at the Whitmer Farm.  Our next stop is Colesville, NY at the restored home of Joseph Knight.  It was here that the very first branch of the Church was organized, with Hyrum Smith as Branch President.  We then journey on to Harmony, PA and the Susquehanna River.  It was here that the Priesthood was restored and where most of the Book of Mormon was translated.  The new Priesthood Restoration Site was dedicated in September 2016.  The site now includes the Joseph and Emma Smith Home, the Isaac Hale Home, statues, historical markers, and a new LDS Visitor’s Center.. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3: Wednesday, July 18th

Palmyra/Sacred Grove – Hill Cumorah Pageant

woodsWe will spend a full day seeing the sites in Palmyra.  Our stops will include the Sacred Grove, the Smith Family Farm, the rebuilt log home where the Moroni visits took place, the Hill Cumorah, the Grandin Press (where the Book of Mormon was first published), the Martin Harris Farm, the Palmyra Cemetery, and the exterior of the Palmyra Temple.  We will go to the Hill Cumorah pageant in the evening. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

 

Day 4: Thursday, July 19th

Free time in the early morning for those who would like to go to the Palmyra temple (on your own). Then we check out and head toward Kirtland. On our way, we will stop at Niagara Falls, the oldest state park in the USA. We’ll board the Maid of the Mist boat which passes directly in front of the falls and enters Horseshoe Basin. This is a fun activity you don’t want to miss! After free time for lunch and shopping we travel to Kirtland, OH. Accommodations: Holiday Inn. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5: Friday, July 20th

Kirtland

We will start with a visit to the Kirtland temple. It was here that the Savior appeared to Joseph and Oliver.  Moses, Elias, and Elijah also appeared and restored Keys of the Priesthood associated with the temple ordinances.  We will visit the LDS Visitors’ Center, the Newell K. Whitney home (where Joseph and Emma lived) and the Newell K. Whitney store (which included the School of the Prophets and where many revelations, including the Word of Wisdom, were received).  We will also visit the John Johnson Inn (where the Church periodical The Evening and Morning Star was published), the reconstructed Kirtland Schoolhouse, and the Kirtland Ashery along with a reconstructed water-powered sawmill.  We will visit the Morley Farm where General Conference was held, the Father and the Son appeared, where missionaries were first sent from, and where the first High Priests of this dispensation were ordained.  We will also see the exterior of homes belonging to Joseph Smith, Hyrum Smith, and Sidney Rigdon. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6: Saturday, July 21th

This morning we will transfer to the Cleveland airport for a flight to Kansas City. Upon arrival in Kansas City, we will drive to Independence to see the LDS Visitors Center near the temple site in Jackson County. Following dinner we’ll drive to Liberty and visit the Liberty Jail where the Prophet Joseph spent several months while the Saints suffered severe persecution in Missouri. Accommodations: Hampton Inn. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7: Sunday, July 22th

Nauvoo

Following church services, we’ll browse through the many restored homes and buildings in “Old Nauvoo”, including the homes of Brigham Young, John Taylor, Heber C. Kimball, Lucy Mack Smith, and the Jonathan Browning Gun Shop. This afternoon we will visit Joseph Smith’s homestead; the grave sites of Joseph, Emma, and Hyrum; the Mansion House; and the Red Brick Store. After dinner we will enjoy the musical production “Rendezvous” at the Cultural Hall. Accommodations: The Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 8: Monday, July 23th

Our day begins with an optional temple session at the Nauvoo Temple. Then we’ll visit the Pioneer Cemetery. This afternoon we’ll travel the old road to Carthage to view a production of the “Life of the Prophet Joseph Smith” at the Visitor’s Center. Next, we’ll tour the jail itself where the Prophet Joseph and his brother Hyrum were martyred. Accommodations: The Nauvoo Family Inn and Suites. Meals : Breakfast, Dinner

Day 9: Tuesday, July 24st

Nauvoo/Hannibal/St. Louis Airport/Home

We will check out of our hotels this morning and transfer to St. Louis. Here we will visit the “arch” and have a goodbye lunch.  Meals : Breakfast, Lunch


hank smithHank Smith: Hank is a master teacher. He is super fun and engaging. Youth love him. He grew up in St. George, Utah and has an MBA from Utah State University. Hank is currently Ph.D. candidate at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he is also an instructor.  In addition to his work in consulting with companies and families, Hank has presented at nationwide Best of Especially for Youth, Retreat for Girls, Time to Blossom, and Time Out for Girls programs, several University Education Weeks, public school assemblies, and various forums around the country.  Hank has also authored many books and “Audio CDs” with Covenant Communications.

Hank and his wife, Sara, currently live in Mapleton, Utah.  Hank says that, “Sara is amazing, she knows everything about me and still loves me.” They have 3 adorable children. Hank enjoys running marathons (15 so far) and eating lots of ice cream, which is why he runs marathons.  More than anything else he loves being with his wonderful wife and children.
