Carnival Magic: With some intriguing innovations, inventive twists on old themes and a more refined look than any of its predecessors in the Carnival fleet, this 130,000-ton, 3,690-passenger ship debuted in May 2011 and instantaneously became one of the coolest ships on the high seas. This amazing ship continued the Dream class tradition of large-scale, bow-to-stern fun including the food and entertainment space Ocean Plaza, the splashy stylings of Carnival WaterWorks, and The Lanai, a convenient and scenic half-mile outdoor wraparound promenade deck. Carnival Magic didn’t stop there; she also introduced the world to all-new ways to have a good time onboard, and proves it with the outdoor fitness-and-fun of SportSquare, featuring the world’s first ropes course at sea. Cucina del Capitano serves up Italian favorites fit for a captain.
Shore Excursions: For the best Book of Mormon experience while cruising the Western Caribbean, you should plan on stopping in Belize and Costa Maya. We have put together what we believe are the best excursions available for a Book of Mormon itinerary for reasonable prices.
Roatan Island Tour: This will be a relaxing day to tour the beautiful island of Roatan. After visiting the sites on Roatan, we will go to the beach where we will have a delicious lunch. Snorkel gear is included with the tour for those who would like to snorkel on the beautiful reef. Following some free time on the beach, we will return to the ship. ($70) For those who would like, you can also add on the thrill of a zipline at this port stop. 12 stations and beautiful views make this a fun zipline (additional $45).
Lamanai Ruins: Take an exciting speedboat ride down the New River to get to the amazing Maya ruins of Lamanai. These ruins date back to the Book of Mormon time period. Climb the huge temples, search for howler monkeys or just enjoy the beautiful jungle setting. If you are taking a cruise to the Western Caribbean, this is a can’t-miss excursion. This tour is consistently rated a favorite by our guests ($115).
Tulum Ruins: From Cozumel see one of the most famous and beautiful of the Maya sites. Tulum sits atop a cliff overlooking the ocean–the setting is surreal. This excursion may allow for some free time to shop or swim in the ocean at the bottom of the ruins for those who would like ($115).
Chacchoben Ruins: & Mayan Experience This side-tour from the port of Costa Maya will allow you to enjoy the peaceful site of Chacchoben. You will enjoy the jungle setting of Chacchoben and its majestic ruins. This site is a late Book of Mormon time site. Learn how the structures and rituals of the Maya relate to the Book of Mormon and LDS beliefs. After visiting the ruins, we will head to a little Maya village where we will have the opportunity to see how the Maya lived and make corn tortillas. This is a great chance to get a feel for the culture of the Mayas living in Mexico. We’ll have an authentic Maya lunch before returning to the ship. If time permits, we will stop by Majajhual for beach and shopping time. This has become one of our guests favorite shore excursions. ($110).
All Shore Excursions are optional and may be purchased separate from the cruise rate. Listed price is subject to change.
