Bring your family this Christmas for an amazing Book of Mormon cruise experience with John Bytheway and Dave Hadlock. This is an awesome ship for families and a great itinerary. This very affordable, seven day cruise allows us to visit the Mayan sites of Lamanai and Chacchoben. Plus a fun, relaxing day at Stingray City in Grand Cayman. You and Your kids will love the presentations onboard the ship with John and Dave. John is very engaging and dynamic. Dave makes the depths of the Book of Mormon understandable for all ages. Dave will also guide along with the local guides on site.

This is the perfect cruise for anybody (old or young) who wants greater appreciation and insight into the Book of Mormon. Join us in the Caribbean this Christmas with your family.

We have decided to do this cruise on Royal Caribbean. It is a little more expensive than some cruise lines; but we feel the environment is better for teens and kids than a Carnival cruise. Bring your family for a magical Christmas experience as you discover what many believe to be the lands of the Book of Mormon.

Shore Excursions: We offer great excursions for a reasonable price. All of our excursions are separate from the cruiseline’s excursions and available only to our LDS group.

Cozumel – Tulum Ruins  From the island of Cozumel we will ferry over to the main land where we will see one of the most famous and beautiful tulumof the Maya sites. Tulum sits atop a cliff overlooking the ocean–the setting is surreal. Our LDS guide will take us through the site and give us an historical and spiritual approach to our understanding of the ancient Mayas. This excursion may allow for some free time to shop or swim in the ocean at the bottom of the ruins for those who would like ($120).

chacchoben_tourCosta Maya – Chacchoben Ruins: This side-tour from the port of Costa Maya will allow you to enjoy the peaceful site of Chacchoben. You will enjoy the jungle setting of Chacchoben and its majestic ruins. This site is a late Book of Mormon time site. Learn how the structures and rituals of the Maya relate to the Book of Mormon and LDS beliefs. After visiting the ruins, we will head to a little Maya village where we will have the opportunity to see how the Maya lived and make corn tortillas. The Maya experience at the village has become a favorite for many guests. We’ll have a Maya lunch before returning to the ship. If time permits, we can drop you off at Majajhual for beach and shopping time ($115).

Grand Cayman: Stingray City & Snorkeling Tour

stingray-3.jpgThis shore excursion on Grand Cayman will take us to a sandbar in the Caribbean called Sting Ray City. We will bus from the dock to the other side of the island where we will get on our private boat (for our LDS tour group only) that takes us out to the sandbar. Upon arriving, we will be greeted by a ton of stingrays as they swim up to the boat in order to be fed. Feel free to get down in the water to touch, hold and feed the stingrays. Get your picture taken with a stingray. After plenty of time at the sand bar, we will boat over to a reef where we will have the opportunity to do some snorkeling. $55 per person

All Shore Excursions are optional and may be purchased separate from the cruise rate. You must book your cruise through Bountiful Travel to participate in our private shore excursions and onboard activities.

John Bytheway:John was born and raised in Salt Lake City, and he served his mission in the Philippines. Following his mission he attended the John-and-Kim-in-Jerusalem-e1442287749196University of Utah, and later graduated from BYU. John has taught the Book of Mormon at Brigham Young University, and the BYU Salt Lake Center since 1996. In 2003, he earned a Master’s Degree in Religious Education. He is the author of more than two dozen books and CDs many of which, he says, are effective non-prescription sleep-aids.

He loves to golf, write, read, and play the banjo and guitar. John is a founding member of the local chapter of the Andy Griffith Show Re-run Watchers Club, and does a “spot-on” impersonation of Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife. John was recently released as bishop of the Salt Lake Winder 10th Ward, and is now teaching Sunday School with his wife, Kim.  John and Kim have six children and a completely full SUV which doubles in value when it’s full of gasoline.

dave-hadlock.jpgDave Hadlock: Dave began guiding tours about 15 years ago and has conducted over 80 tour groups, primarily into Central America and Israel. He loves teaching scripture and being around people. He has a gift for making deep scriptural understanding easily understood for all. So whether you are new to the scriptures or have read them many times, Dave brings new insights. He started in the industry guiding groups to Mesoamerica, having studied a lot of Mayan and Mesoamerican culture. After doing tours into Mesoamerica for five years, Dave opened Bountiful Travel and began taking groups to Israel as well. He takes several groups every year into the Holy Lands. Dave studied at BYU for a master’s degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies with an emphasis on the Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew. He introduces gospel topics according to the geography, culture and history of the sites you are visiting. Dave is an easy going tour director who loves to laugh and have fun. His style of teaching is straight from the scriptures, using them as his primary source.
