Carnival Glory: If you’re looking for a vacation at sea that’s as colorful as the décor of the cruise ship taking you there, an entire palette of fun activities and hot spots awaits aboard Carnival Glory. For starters, there’s a rainbow of salsa options for dressing up your tacos and burritos at BlueIguana Cantina, while Guy’s Burger Joint serves up burgers designed by the colorful personality himself: celebrity chef Guy Fieri.
Speaking of colorful personalities, you’ll enjoy a variety of stand-up comedians at The Punchliner Comedy Club. Enjoy a show on the stage at Playlist Productions, complete with singing and dancing, plus video screens that bring these productions an extra splash of color. Speaking of splash, at WaterWorks the fun flows down the winding curves of the classic Twister and all-new AquaTunnel waterslide — plus twin racing slides and a giant tipping bucket — for countless gallons of fun. And if a picture paints a thousand words, imagine the millions flying off the big screen during a film under the stars at Dive-In Movies. Yes, it’s Hollywood meets islands for a date night done right.
The Glory is one of my favorite Carnival ships. We realize Carnival has a “party boat” reputation; but I believe you will find the onboard experience is much better than what you would imagine.
Private LDS Group Shore Excursions (optional)
Roatan Island Tour: This will be a relaxing day to tour the beautiful island of Roatan. After a bus tour of Roatan, we will stop by a monkey and sloth reserve where you will be able to hold and play with monkeys and sloths. Following our island tour, we will go to the beach where we will have a delicious lunch. Snorkel gear is included with the tour for those who would like to snorkel on the beautiful reef. Following some free time on the beach, we will return to the ship. ($70)
For those who would like to Zipline and snorkel, you will miss out on the monkeys but you can add the thrill of a zipline at this port stop. 13 stations and beautiful views make this a fun zipline – cost is $110 for snorkel and zipline tour with lunch.
Tulum Ruins: From Cozumel see one of the most famous and beautiful of the Maya sites. Tulum sits atop a cliff overlooking the ocean–the setting is surreal. This excursion may allow for some free time to shop or swim in the ocean at the bottom of the ruins for those who would like (approx. $120).
Belize: Lamanai River Tour: Take an exciting speedboat ride down the New River to get to the amazing Maya ruins of Lamanai. These ruins date back to the Book of Mormon time period. Climb the huge temples, search for howler monkeys or just enjoy the beautiful jungle setting. If you are taking a cruise to the Western Caribbean, this is a can’t-miss excursion. This tour is consistently rated a favorite by our guests ($120)
Grand Cayman: Stingray City & Snorkeling Tour
This shore excursion on Grand Cayman will take us to a sandbar in the Caribbean called Sting Ray City. We will bus from the dock to the other side of the island where we will get on our private boat (for our LDS tour group only) that takes us out to the sandbar. Upon arriving, we will be greeted by a ton of stingrays as they swim up to the boat in order to be fed. Feel free to get down in the water to touch, hold and feed the stingrays. Get your picture taken with a stingray. After plenty of time at the sand bar, we will boat over to a reef where we will have the opportunity to do some snorkeling. $55 per person
All Shore Excursions are optional and may be purchased separate from the cruise rate. Listed price is subject to change.
Meg Johnson has motivated people of all abilities with her motto: When life gets too hard to stand, just keep on rollin’! Meg fell off a cliff and broke her neck in 2004, at the age of 22. She spent four months in the hospital recovering from multiple injuries and returned home without the use of her legs, back, stomach, or hands – a quadriplegic. Wheelchair bound and determined, Meg refuses to sit still. Since she was paralyzed, Meg has competed at the national Ms. Wheelchair America pageant in New York, winning the Spirit Award; founded and directs Ms. Wheelchair Utah; instituted a service outreach program; and authored several books. She received the 2012 Weber County Athena Award, which recognizes her service efforts. Her motivational books and live-recorded talks on CD are available at book stores. Meg’s newsletter, Meg’s Monthly Message, is read by thousands across the globe. Meg has been married to her husband, Whit Johnson, since 2008 and they have two daughters.
John Bytheway: John was born and raised in Salt Lake City, and he served his mission in the Philippines. Following his mission he attended the University of Utah, and later graduated from BYU. John has taught the Book of Mormon at Brigham Young University, and the BYU Salt Lake Center since 1996. In 2003, he earned a Master’s Degree in Religious Education. He is the author of more than two dozen books and CDs many of which, he says, are effective non-prescription sleep-aids.
He loves to golf, write, read, and play the banjo and guitar. John is a founding member of the local chapter of the Andy Griffith Show Re-run Watchers Club, and does a “spot-on” impersonation of Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife. John was recently released as bishop of the Salt Lake Winder 10th Ward, and is now teaching Sunday School with his wife, Kim. John and Kim have six children and a completely full SUV which doubles in value when it’s full of gasoline.
Hank Smith: Hank grew up in St. George, Utah and has an MBA from Utah State University. Hank is currently Ph.D. candidate at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he is also an instructor. In addition to his work in consulting with companies and families, Hank has presented at nationwide Best of Especially for Youth, Retreat for Girls, Time to Blossom, and Time Out for Girls programs, several University Education Weeks, public school assemblies, and various forums around the country. Hank has also authored many books and “Audio CDs” with Covenant Communications.
Hank and his wife, Sara, currently live in Mapleton, Utah. Hank says that, “Sara is amazing, she knows everything about me and still loves me.” They have 3 adorable children. Hank enjoys running marathons (15 so far) and eating lots of ice cream, which is why he runs marathons. More than anything else he loves being with his wonderful wife and children. You and your kids are going to love Hank’s presentations.
Dave Hadlock: Dave began guiding tours about 14 years ago and has conducted over 90 tour groups, primarily into Central America and Israel. He loves teaching scripture and being around people. He has a gift for making deep scriptural understanding easily understood for all. So whether you are relatively new to the scriptures or have read them many times, Dave brings amazing new insights.
He began guiding groups first into Mesoamerica, having studied a lot of Mayan and Mesoamerican culture. After doing tours into Mesoamerica for five years, Dave opened Bountiful Travel and began taking groups to Israel as well. He takes several groups every year into the Holy Lands. Dave studied at BYU for a master’s degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies with an emphasis on the Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew. He introduces gospel topics according to the geography, culture and history of the sites you are visiting. Dave is an easy going tour director who loves to laugh and have fun. His style of teaching is straight from the scriptures, using them as his primary source.
