Join Dave Hadlock on an exotic Western Caribbean Cruise. Experience an education week at sea and watch as the scriptures come to life through the instruction that takes place on the boat and on site. Dave will instruct on the Book of Mormon and Bible by showing their correlations, cultural and theological, to the areas we will be visiting. This Book of Mormon Cruise will allow us to see Maya ruins from the ports of Belize City, Cozumel, and Guatemala. Don’t take a Book of Mormon cruise without stopping in Guatemala & Belize (both are consistently rated as the favorite shore excursions by past cruisers). In addition to the amazing Maya sites, this ship will make a relaxing stop at Key West. See the amazing ruins of Lamanai after speed-boating down the New River, see the majestic canyons of the Rio Dulce in Guatemala before going to the ruins of Quirigua and discover the beautiful and peaceful setting of Tulum at the port of Cozumel. NCL Sun: The Sun is one of my favorite ships. It has a great Book of Mormon itinerary and has a great atmosphere for LDS groups. More refined than Carnival and still a lot of fun. The freestyle dining works great for groups, allowing you to eat with the group or do your own thing if you’d prefer some nights. This is one of NCL’s highest rated ships. Come give it a try!
Shore Excursions
Quirigua and the Rio Dulce: This side-tour will take you on a two hour trip down the Rio Dulce. This amazingly scenic trip also gives you a feel for the culture of the locals that live along the river banks. After the river trip, see the amazing Maya Stelae at the ruins of Quirigua. Our guide will instruct us on the history of this site and the people who lived here ($120 – $5 cash discount).
Lamanai Ruins: Take an exciting speedboat ride down the New River to get to the amazing Maya ruins of Lamanai. These ruins date back to the Book of Mormon time period. Climb the huge temples, search for howler monkeys or just enjoy the beautiful jungle setting ($115 – $5 cash discount).
Tulum Ruins: From Cozumel see one of the most famous and beautiful of the Maya sites. Tulum sits atop a cliff overlooking the ocean–the setting is surreal. This excursion will allow for some free time to shop or swim in the ocean at the bottom of the ruins ($110 — $5 cash discount).
All Shore Excursions are optional and may be purchased separate from the cruise rate.
Speakers/Guides:Dave Hadlock: Dave has completed course work in Ancient Near Eastern Studies with an emphasis on the Old Testament. His passion is the study of Old World culture, language, and ritual. This background helps provide for interesting parallels that can be found both in the Book of Mormon and also in the beliefs of the ancient inhabitants of the Book of Mormon lands. He has conducted many cruises and tours through Mexico and the proposed Book of Mormon lands. He has taught many years of gospel doctrine and has taught institute classes. Shore excursions are priced as listed and can be purchased up until the cruise or until the excursion is full.
Booking Requirements: A $300 deposit, per person, is required to confirm your reservations. $250 is refundable until January 24, 2011 when balance is due.
Passports: Passports are highly recommended, but not required, for this sailing!
