Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas: Explorer of the Seas follows the floating resort concept, with a wealth of facilities, activities and entertainment that will appeal to every age group.

The ship underwent an U.S.$80-million refit in May 2014, with amenities added including an ice skating rink/concert venue/TV studio, spa/solarium complex, a shopping/dining/entertainment boulevard, 3D movie theater, outdoor movie screen, wedding chapel and florist. A fitness center, outdoor jogging track and outdoor youth area with a rock-climbing wall, full-court basketball, nine-holeminiature golf and brand new FlowRider Surf Simulator offers active cruisers of all ages, from children to seniors, something to enjoy.

The Royal Promenade is the heart of the vessel. You feel like you are in an upscale mall as you walk this longer-than-a-football-field and wider-than-three-lanes-of-traffic boulevard anchored by two atria that are marvels of marble and colossal sculpture. Diversions on the promenade include shops selling everything from ship’s logo items, to cheap accessories and designer merchandise.

Shore Excursions

Juneau City/Mendenhall Glacier tour & Alaska Bake Lunch –
This tour will begin with a stop at the local chapel for sacrament meeting (if we arrive in port early enough). After church, you will discover Alaska’s capital city and its stirring human and natural history. You will take a a scenic drive on the way to Mendenhall Glacier. The Mendenhall Glacie is one-and-a-half miles wide, hundreds of feet thick and fed by the 1,500-square-mile Juneau Icefield. You can visit the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center for a wealth of valuable information or go for a hike up-close to the glacier.  During mid-summer through fall, bears are often spotted feeding on spawning salmon in the river near the glacier.  After your city and glacier tour, you will be dropped off at a wonderful Juneau Salmon Bake.  This is a well known Salmon Bake that has live music and you can hang out as long as you want there. After you have completed your meal you will take the courtesy shuttle back to the dock for your cruise departure.

Skagway – WHITE PASS SUMMIT BUS & RAIL EXCURSION — WhitePassRailroadThis bus and rail combination excursion affords you an opportunity to view the unparalleled beauty of Alaska from two completely different perspectives — one way by train and the other by bus. The return trip is more than a mere bus transfer. We offer several stops along the route back into Skagway with a guaranteed visit to the Skagway Scenic Overlook — one of Skagway’s most scenic viewpoints!

Victoria, BC. Canada – These world-renowned gardens have been wow-ing Victoria visitors since 1904. Resting on 55 acres about 14 miles north of the Inner Harbour, the Butchart Gardens were carefully constructed by Jenny Butchart on her husband’s former limestone quarry. Today, nearly one million people stop by each year to meander along the property’s flower-lined paths. Visit on a summer evening to see the gardens illuminated by colored lights and to enjoy some musical entertainment.

All Shore Tours and Excursions are optional and may be purchased separate from the cruise rate.
